Running a paperless business
I started my freelancer Data Science consulting business (focusing on graphs) 4 months ago when we moved from Europe to Australia.
So far it is great, I can focus on my work and the administration is also minimal, not to mention the low taxes.
Okay, but how can you start one?
I know there are a few options, so you can do your research but because I am a European Union citizen I got an Estonia E-residency it’s around 200 EUR, and you can still get it if you are not in the EU but it can take a bit longer.
Now that’s the first step, you will have to pick it up the card at an Estonian Embassy closest to you, after that you can use all Estonian E-Gov services, for example, establishing a BUSINESS.
However, it is wise to choose a business provider I had chosen XOLO the biggest business provider in Estonia specialized to freelancers and small business owners, with a small monthly and set up fee. They sort out everything for you and you get a nice invoicing software that can be connected to a Transferwise Business Account, with VAT auto calculation which is nice (you have to ask for that as well.)
Taxwise it’s kind of nice, not tax-free because depending on your circumstances other regulation from other countries may apply so do you research.
In summary, for around 400 EUR you can get a legal business in Europe which kind of nice and you can manage it from anywhere* the world through a mobile phone and internet connection.
*You need a laptop for a setup :)
